Flying back to the states from Geneva last month, I had the oppotunity to watch a few movies. Penguin Lessons was my favorite of the trip. If you have a chance to watch it, I would highly recommend! It is based on a true story from the 1970's in Argentina, with so many themes applicable to today. Plus, it had one line that I love to repeat:
"Sometimes you need to put the penguin in the pool"
Friends and family are having to listen to me use that phrase (and perhaps get annoyed?) My husband recently found a golf ball with a penguin on it, saved it for me and I ended up putting the penguin in the pond on hole #18.
I also have been asking clients what that phrase means to them. And enjoying their many responses. Here are a few:
"take the risk and jump in"
"do what you were meant to do"
"time to stop procrastinating"
So how about you? What does that phrase mean for you?
As summer is quickly coming to an end, I am wondering what have you been wondering about? Are you thinking about jumping in to something new this fall? Or perhaps know that it is time to stop delaying?
That was certainly the case for me ten years ago when I started this company. While I didn't know at the time if it would fly (or swim!) I did know that the work I would be doing was extremely on purpose for me. And knowing that helped me to jump in.
Getting clear on your purpose in life is not only a very gratifying way to live life, it is also a great way to help make decisions. In additional to the traditional T chart of Pros/Cons, asking this simple but important question can really help: will this decision allow me to live more or less on purpose?
While the question is simple, it isn't always simple to get clear on purpose, and we can help if you are interested. We have two workshops where we work on this.
The first one is part of a broader workshop where we provide an introduction and first pass at purpose: Enabling Purpose Through Relationship©.
The second one is a much deeper dive: Advanced Women Moving Forward® where we spend much more time on not only purpose clarity, but also build skills and learn how to better live life on purpose.
Or if you would prefer to have individual 1on1 coaching, this is an option too.
As we celebrate ten years of gracecamp®, I want to thank you! I am grateful to and for the many people who have supported me and this work along the way. I have learned and grown from you all.
It was a huge change for sure, but sometimes you just need to put the penguin in the pool!
